A CULTURAL HIGHLIGHT IN A UNIQUE SETTING

CALWER MONASTERY
SUMMER

The Calw Monastery Summer in Hirsau is an annual open-air cultural festival in the northern Black Forest. It takes place between the end of July and the beginning of August in the cloister of the monastery ruins of St Peter and Paul in the Calw district of Hirsau (northern Black Forest) and attracts up to 15,000 visitors. In 2008, the event replaced the Hirsau Monastery Festival, which had been held at the same location since 1959.

Hirsau Monastery is a very special place among the major German festival venues: the imposing, 1,000-year-old ruins of St Peter and St Paul form the historical backdrop for the Calwer Klostersommer in Hirsau. A high-calibre cultural event in a fantastic setting that is second to none. Calwer Klostersommer is not only pure artistic enjoyment, but also an exquisite experience for all the senses - goosebumps included. Once you have seen the full moon rise over the festively illuminated cloisters at a concert, you are guaranteed to come back again and again.

Be inspired by a festival programme that has something for every taste. Classical and pop music are not mutually exclusive at the Klostersommer, but form a colourful unity. Only one thing is important: every item on the programme must be first-class.

As organisers, we rely on well-known, sometimes world-famous artists and high-quality productions.
